The Koehler K19201 Water Washout Tester is designed to determine the water washout characteristics of lubricating greases by measuring the percentage of grease loss from a ball bearing assembly subjected to a steady stream of water. Compliant with ASTM D1264, D4950, IP 215, and FTM 791-3252, the instrument rotates a lubricated ASTM ball bearing at 600 rpm while directing a controlled jet of water—via a 1 mm capillary nozzle—at the bearing housed in a modified test assembly. The bearing and shields are precisely weighed before and after the one-hour test (including drying) to calculate sample loss. The system features a finished steel base for benchtop use and includes a drive motor (1⁄3 hp, 1725 rpm) coupled with a constant velocity carbon-bearing gear pump for consistent water circulation. Temperature control is achieved through a built-in cartridge heater, thermoregulator, and thermometer port, maintaining test conditions at 100°F (38°C) or 175°F (79°C) per ASTM guidelines with a stability of ±1°F (±0.5°C). The two-pulley drive system allows for independent water circulation during the heating phase, optimizing test readiness and repeatability. Ideal for quality control and R&D in grease formulation, the K19201 offers a precise, standardized solution for assessing the durability of greases under wet operating conditions.
