Fully compliant with ASTM, IP, ISO, DIN, FTM, AOCS, AACC, and NFT standards—including ASTM D5, D217, D937, D1403, D2884, D4950, and ISO 2137—the instrument utilizes a motorized mechanism to position a standard cone or needle above the sample and release it for a programmable interval (default: 5.0 seconds). With a penetration range of 0–62.0 mm (0–620 on 1⁄10 mm scale), results are digitally displayed in either 1⁄10 mm or 1⁄100 mm increments and can be exported via the built-in RS232 interface for documentation or further analysis. The system features four programmable presets for consistent tip placement and includes coarse/fine adjustments and a built-in magnifier and illuminator for sample surface visualization. An automatic surface detection circuit further enhances accuracy, especially for electrically conductive materials. Test settings such as delay intervals, penetration time, and acceptable measurement ranges are stored in memory and auto-repeated in subsequent runs. The large, removable base accommodates various sample containers and can be detached for integration with temperature control baths.
